Dancing with Sea Lions
The Dancing With Sea Lions project began as a fundraiser for the 20th Anniversary of the Florence Events Center. The volunteers of the Florence Arts, Culture, and Entertainment nonprofit group (previously known as the Friends of the FEC) headed up this project in conjunction with the Florence Events Center Staff. Twenty life size sea lion sculptures were each painted by a different artist. All of them were displayed with their sponsors along the Oregon Coast till October of 2016, when they were then purchased by businesses and individuals. Fifteen of them are still publicly displayed in Florence and near by coastal locations. See our 'Where are they now' map for their current locations, and check our blog for updates. Splash Off!
On Saturday, April 9th from 10 am to 3 pm, the Florence Events Center will be ready to party! Everyone is invited to the Splash Off Event, where all 20 dancing sea lions and their little pup, Rhody are ready to meet their fans! Join the Friends of the Florence Events Center in celebrating 20 years and the ripple effect the arts have on our community. Meet the artists and take a selfie with your favorite pinniped dancer!
Geo Cache!
Join the fun in an all day Geo Cache event brought to you by the Sea Lion Caves and ---------. Meet at the Florence Events Center on Saturday, May 14th, starting at 8:00 am for all the instructions and information to successfully find your geo coordinates and earn one of 300 special edition Dancing with Sea Lions collectible coins. Prizes, food and plenty of detective work make this a great family activity. This event is sponsored by Sea Lion Caves and the Friends of the Florence Events Center. More information to follow...
